Sofian Hamad (204-SF-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Al Alhy Benghazi and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3 (Second Stage).
The 27-year old had the game-high 21 points adding three assists for Ahly Benghazi in his team's victory, helping them to crush Spintex (#2, 3-2) with 25-point margin 88-63. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Ahly Benghazi to consolidate first place in the Basketball Africa League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Ahly Benghazi already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Hamad had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He turned to be Ahly Benghazi's top player in his first season with the team. Hamad has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 19.8ppg. Hamad is in league's top in and averages solid 62.5% FGP and 75.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Portuguese Ivan Almeida (197-SF-1989) of Kriol Star. Almeida impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 15 assists. Bad luck as Kriol S. was edged by JCA (6-0) 84-82. The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Almeida is a newcomer at Kriol S. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 8.3rpg and 7.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was another Kriol S.'s star - Kenneti Mendes (203-C-1990). Mendes scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Despite Mendes' great performance the Kriol Star lost 82-84 to #1 ranked JCA. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Kriol S. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful Second Stage losing so far all 3 games. Mendes has a very solid season. In 3 games in Basketball Africa League he scored 9.3ppg.

4. Aboubakr Gbane (198-F-2000) of JCA - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Chris Echui (2008) of JCA - 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Marcos Knight (191-G-1989) of Ahly Benghazi - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists

The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
